The Aim of the Home

Dallington house is a family run home. The aim of the home is to provide both long and short stay accommodation of a high standard with appropriate care and support within the security of a warm and homely environment. The staff encourages residents, wherever possible, to exercise choices and aims to allow them to participate as fully and as independently as possible in the running of the home. Sympathetic and personal care is given to the residents according to their assessed needs, whilst at all times maintaining their independence, integrity and dignity.

Staffing

The proprietor follows stringent procedures in recruiting staff and places a strong emphasis in staff training in order to provide a very high and professional standard of care. All care staff are qualified to NVQ level 2 or higher in care. Each resident is assigned a "Key Worker" who is a member of the care staff and who assists the residents with any problems.

Social Life

Residents’ visitors are welcome at any reasonable time on any day. Residents are free to come and go as they choose. Regular social events and activities including evening entertainment, karaoke nights, visits to parks and shopping, chair-bound exercises, ball therapy, board and card games, dominos etc are organised on a regular basis.

Residents can participate in any or all activities subject to their needs and abilities, or just relax. They are encouraged to pursue their own religious beliefs and follow their own lifestyle, habits and hobbies. They can bring their personal items such as photographs, pictures, ornaments, radio, clock and memorabilia to make their room homely and familiar. They can decorate or rearrange their rooms to suit them. They are provided with their own room keys.

Activities

Visiting entertainers, karaoke nights, chair-bound exercises, board and card games, dominoes, shopping and park visits, ball therapy.

With increased frailty and high dependence of many residents, group activities might not always be feasible. Hence, we do not set a fixed time or designate an activity organiser. Instead, we take a whole day approach, encouraging different residents to do the things they enjoy doing the most, either on their own or with a little help from the staff.

Health

Residents will be registered with a General Practitioner, Optician, Dentist, Chiropodist etc of their own choice. The home also has special links with The Limes Medical Centre at Narborough should anybody wish to register with them. Residents are accompanied by a staff member on visits to hospital, G.P. surgery or health centre if required. Regular hair dressing services and newspapers are also available.

Finance

Residents are encouraged to manage their own finances. Dallington House will only get involved in the residents’ financial affairs if they require it.

Complaints

The proprietor is committed to providing high quality and professional services to the residents. Should there be any cause for dissatisfaction with the service provided residents should contact the manager and/or use the complaints procedure. Full details are available upon admission.

Moving In

The first four weeks of residency will be considered as a trial period to assess for mutual suitability. This situation will be reviewed with the resident, his/her next of kin and the social worker at the end of this period.
